Next-gen Nexus 7 Spotted in Google Hangouts Presentation Video

Even though the Google I/O 2013 event didn’t bring us a new Android version and a new Nexus tablet, contrary to what the rumor mill was suggesting, the presentation videos of the new apps that were announced at the San Francisco-based conference hid a couple of surprises.
For example, Google launched a presentation video for the new Hangouts and at second 21 we get to see a very interesting terminal.
We are talking about a tablet that has a design that is similar to the one of the current Nexus 7, but which sports a notification LED in the bottom end. This is a trait common for the Nexus One, Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4, but the first Nexus tablet didn’t came with a LED flash.
Soon after the guys at have spotted the mysterious tablets, the rumor mill has started to speculate that it’s the next-gen Nexus tablet, unofficially dubbed Nexus 7 2. The terminal seems to be a bit thinner than the current generation, while featuring a metallic body.
Before the debut of the Google I/O event the analysts and the experts in the business said that we will see a new Nexus tablet during the show, but the speculates ended up as being false.
New reports are indicating the the next-gen Nexus 7 will be officially announced in July, and that, besides the thinner and metallic body, the Tegra 3 GPU will be replaced by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with four Krait cores clocked at 1.5 GHz. Rumor has it that it will also come with a 1920 x 1200 pixels display, 2 GB of RAM, and, probably, an improved front facing camera.
It was also reported that the new 7-inch tablet co-developed by Google and ASUS will be launched synchronized with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the new Android iteration that was absent from Google I/O.
