Panasonic Launches 5-inch P51 Smartphone For Rs 26,990

Japanese giant Panasonic has re-entered the smartphone segment and launched in India its P51 Android smartphone with 5 inch display, which has almost become an industry standard. Panasonic has ambitious plans to launch more smartphones in the coming months.

The Dual-SIM  P51 features a unibody design and comes with a 5-inch IPS display that sports a resolution of 720×1280 pixels,and 295ppi pixel density. The touchscreen boasts of Asahi DragonTrail scratchproof and damage-proof glass for added durability. This device runs on latest Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS.  It has a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU under the hood and packs 1GB RAM and 4GB onboard storage, along with microSD card support up to 32GB. It sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto focus and a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera which is capable of recording 720p video. It is packed with a 2500mAh battery and comes with a stylus and a magnetic flip cover.
The connectivity suite of this phone comprises features like 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB.This phone measures 8.5mm along the waistline, weighs 135gram and will be available in white and black colours.
The phone comes preloaded with apps such as TOI, ET, Kingsoft Office, Cam Scanner, Cam Card reader and WeChat, among others.
Panasonic has collaborated with Jaina Marketing for the distribution, marketing and customer care support of its P51 and upcoming smartphones. It has said that it will invest Rs 200 crore over the next year in brand building for the mobile range. Panasonic is eyeing an 8% share of the Indian smartphone market in the first year.
This phone will be available in retail stores across India starting next week for Rs. 26,990.
Speaking on the launch, Daizo Ito, President, Panasonic India said, “we are now launching our innovative smartphone which will redefine the Indian smartphone consumer experience. India has always been one of the alpha markets in the region and I take great pride in introducing our smartphone to India. We are confident that our product will provide the Indian consumer a great multimedia experience and the best ‘value for money’ proposition.”
Panasonic’s P51 will face stiff resistance from Google Nexus 4 smartphone, which has been launched today and other established brands like Samsung Galaxy S III, HTC One X and LG Optimus 4X HD, among others.
