LG Optimus G2 Leaked Again, Release Date Can’t Be Too Far

LG Optimus G2 release date

LG is the only big player of the Android market that didn’t announce its flagship smartphone for 2013, yet. I know, the South Koreans introduced the LG Optimus G Pro at MWC 2013, but the 5.5-inch display makes it a rival of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3. With LG aiming to compete against Sony Xperia Z, Samsung Galaxy S4, and HTC One, the Optimus G2 will be the company’s war declaration.
Even though this is not the first time we get to see the LG Optimus G2 leaking online, the new leaked photo is somehow indicating that the release date of the LG flagship can’t be too far.
Since the South Koreans will want to take on Sony’s Xperia Z, Samsung’s Galaxy S4, and HTC’s One, the technical specifications of the LG Optimus G2 will have to make it a dreadful rival. Rumor has it that the LG Optimus G2 will be underpinned by a Snapdragon 800 chipset with four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz and Adreno 330 GPU, paired with 2 GB of RAM. As you probably noticed, the high-end smartphones of 2013 come with full HD displays, therefore we are expecting the LG Optimus G2 to sport a 5-inch display with 1080p resolution.
The rumor mill also speculates that the LG Optimus G2 will have a slim body construction, so slim that the South Korean company had to place the Volume rocker on the back of the device.
The new LG Optimus G2 leaked picture gives us a hint on the design of the upcoming LG flagship. We are definitely looking at a LG Optimus G2 prototype, but I don’t think the design will suffer any major changes.
According to the reports the Optimus G2 will come pre-loaded with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and an improved version of LG’s proprietary Optimus UI, which will focus on touchless gestures. The leaked picture is a confirmation for the rumors saying that the LG Optimus G2 will come with a 5-inch display with an ultra-slim bezel around it. With a bezel that slim, the LG Optimus G2 will probably more compact that its main rival, the Samsung Galaxy S4.
What are you expecting from the LG Optimus G2? Which will be some of the software particularities brought by the new Optimus UI? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
